April 2021
Late is better than never
April was jam-packed with projects, keeping Erin glued to the computer and Nick clocking in extra time at the shop. Beyond that, we’ve been soaking up the occasional warm spring days that emerge between the clouds and rainstorms. We also celebrated Nick’s 30th birthday this month, and the anniversary of Petite & English! It’s fun to see where we started one year ago.
The Fox Stand Door
Last weekend was the long-awaited installation of the new exterior Sapele door at our place. It’s been hung and outfitted with a beautiful new lockset. We celebrated the momentous occasion by enjoying a bonfire at sunset, sipping on drinks, and bathing in satisfaction. It’s been an honor building a new piece for one of Vermont’s best examples of historic Federal architecture. We still pinch ourselves at the realization that we get to call this place home.
cherry step stool
This Shaker-inspired step stool was a birthday gift for Erin’s dad, after he saw and loved the one we keep in our kitchen. Built from Vermont-grown Cherry, it features hand-cut dovetails as well as wedged tenon joinery. The foot detail is a shape that we’ve been experimenting with on benches and stools.
